new thread to ask questions about welding pertaining to axles. links to procedures and tips and tricks welcomed.
Ill start off with my concerning issue:
I am looking at welding on my dana 60s and 14 bolt this summer. I plan on using 7018 rod (stick welding). So far I have concluded that:
-I need to pre heat to 400 degrees F' (will need to borrow a heat gun)(torch/rose bud).
-heat blanket to slow the cooling process (cast and mild steel cool at different rates)
-take my time so that the cast steel doesnt get too hot.
Am I missing anything?
