What freakin' size is the caliper bolt on the D30? It is an external torx bolt. I bought a set and none of them fit.:wtf: Of course it only has even sizes. E12 too small, E14 too big. Maybe an E13????????????? Didn't get by NAPA to see if they had one. Got mine from Schmucks but they only had the set I bought.

I'm trying to get the spare D30 I got apart and cleaned up.
End Rant.

Somone Please help.

Thanks
Mel

My 82 CJ dana 30 used allen head bolts to hold the calipers on if that helps...

I thought they were allen too until I looked at it. I read somewhere that they used Allen, Torx, regular and the External torx. Guess DC or whoever couldn't make up their mind. Guess I'm going to Napa tomorrow to see if they have one to fit. Mousee said that is where he got one.

so it is probably a 12 side bolt, which uses a 12 side socket, probably 1/2" or 13mm. That is what the unitized bearing bolts are on my TJ. The caliper bolts on a TJ Dana 30 are either 13 or 15mm 6 side bolt.

Check your socket set for a 12 side socket, it looks kinda like a astrecks or external torx or something but not exactly. It is fairly common in smaller sized sockets. If you don't have one, I do, but it's probably easier to grab one from Sears. I bet that a full bar of complete sizes cost less in gas than it takes to get to my house from yours.:)

my set has some odd #'s, but not 13. I have ... 9,10,11, 12, 14, 16 ...

I tried a 12pt socket couldn't get it to work. that was the first thing I tried. Maybe I didn't try a 13 though who knows. I was tired then just pissed off. I will try it. Thanks for the info.

Well it wasn't a 12pt 13. Way to big. $^*t. I did get them off though. I just started from scratch trying every size I could. 9 too big 7 too small. for some reason didn't have a 12pt 8. But wait box end of 8mm wrench should work right? yes finally. got them off.

Note to self. check XJ caliper bolts. If this wierd bolt buy 8mm 12pt and label it or replace caliper bolts with regular ones.
