I am purchasing a TJ soon, or hoping too. :D I would like to lock it up, however, be able to unlock the front when it is not needed. Could I have it on a cable or switch? Does anyone have that or know of someone who has successfully done this? I have a quad that has it, so I am hoping it is possible. A better question is, for crawling and other light playing in the mud, would it even be worth wild on locking a TJ up? Any advice on this mater would be greatly appreciated.

buy a ARB air locker or Ox cable actuated locker for the front. For the rear, just buy an EZ locker or Lockright and let er go!

YOu could also go with a manual hub conversion from Warn but it is quite pricy.

Or switch to manual locking hubs with a full time locker up front. Either one will do as you asked but both a pretty penny. You get to this point and it’s almost the same price to swap a bigger axle in that has manual hubs already and then throw a locker in that.

Dana 44 and detroit electrac, Limited slip when unlocked, full lock when engaged, and costs less than an ARB setup with compressor.

Or you could downgrade to a older XJ front axle with vacuum disconnect. And buy the cable switch for that.

Not recommended, but an inexpensive option.

thank you all great info. For what the club does, is locking it up a good idea, or just another way to spend money, alot of money? I have a feeling its gonna run me a lot to set it up from stock. When someone buys my big rig, ill have the money to do it all.( sorry, :wife:selling a bus style motor coach, big boy toy too):D Just wont tell her it all going too a jeep

Well I won't lie, a lot of this stuff is a lot like the Jersey Pines & Swamps in the summer. In the winter is's all ice and snow, so I think you need a locker here more then some other places. Get with me more when you find a Jeep and I'll talk to you about getting you set up well. If you get a Rubicon you solve some of your problems. I don't like them, but there good out of the box wheelers. I like seeing peolpe wheel what they have and then slowly build it up. Know what your starting with. Good luck//
