That's right. 2T2 and I fabbed up a spare tire mount for his Taco yesterday. First time I ever welded and it was awesome. Here's some pics.

Looks cool, not worried about tailgate fitment?

A tailgate would be tight to fit, but he is running an air gate and he actually wanted the tire to push against it a little. As we were nearing the end of the fab he kept repeating that he was very happy and liked it. The only thing we miss calculated on was the angle the tire mounts to. It put the bottom of the tire in the air a little instead of on the bed like we wanted, but it works. This fab also gave him a place to mount his high lift in front of the spare.

In a pickup the more you can push the tire to the back past the center of the axle the better the traction will be.

thanks for the help Bryant I think we did a prety good job on it. I tested it last night a little and it held up grate. I think the tire is far enough back to help with traction and I can still fit my air gate.

no worries , i hope it holds up better now ...just needed some tlc ... whats with the matching trail damage ? lol
now i need to find a asain hub .. found out why my power steering over heated .. skid plate was jammed with 50 lbs of hard packed clay in there and blocked off my steering cooler lines ..and she baked .

fix is on the way ..

our welds just needed to be better. he did a triple pass over our welds and made it alot stronger

Sweet. Thought something broke cause we didn't brace good enough. If just the welds, I'm not worried. Especially since at least the ones I did were the first ones I ever done, so I wouldn't expect them to be totally right.
