Very good run. The Fairbanks guys are a blast to run with. Very well prepped rigs. Very helpful and concious of each others needs.
We went in the second entrance and had a chance to test out ChevyKevs new buggy. It had carb issues so we parked it and kept going. The mudbogs were fun and we went through the moose buggy swallowing hole without drama. The water was very low everywhere in Boulder.
We lost a tire on a Toy going down the v-notch, that was quickly swapped and a quick lunch was eaten. On we went to the rock garden. After getting the van out of the way we proceded to play on the rocks, slipping and sliding, and having a general good time. Rain moved in and as Fix It was trying to navigate the uphill portion of the garden, the right front cv shaft snapped, taking the hub with it. After damage assesment and meeting back up with the first group, we turned around and headed for home.
Back up through the rocks, and on out to the smoother trail we went. The trip out was uneventfull until we got to the mud holes again. There we played, cheered each other on, found the rev. limiter on a red XJ, and learned that a Samurai can go from 20mph to 0 in about 3 inches....
We got Chevykevs buggy fired back up, and after some carb tweaks it was running better than ever. Back out through the holes on the 2nd entrance went, with most being able to navigate through on their own. Once in the parking lot there was food waiting for the hungry bunch, and smiles were to be found everywhere.
Great run, great weekend, great friends. Thanks guys.

It's 4:04 and I just got in and checked the boards. It was a great time. the whole event was good. the trail ride was great especially on the way out and especially when that red XJ (mine with the wife driving) found the rev limiter and showed Lil T up in the mud :) I have tons of pics and some videos. I have to shower unpack and rest some. I'll get them up tonight or tomorrow night.
Huge thanks to Wayne for letting us crash there too. That's all for now I'm too tired to write up alot of stuff.

sorry i held everyone up on the rock garden when i snapped my axle and hub ..i had every part for front axle to replace it but a my spare hub (back home ) but thanks to my winch and front locker i was able to drive back home ! )

I have a lot of pictures and a lot of stories to tell once I have some sleep.
I can say that this is the way it outta be...always.
- Wayne and April's hospitality was absolutely outstanding! A place to sleep, food to eat, a shop to use, coffee to keep Kev alive...
- Julie saving our butts over and again with the brisket, the fixins, the cookin', and the delivery of food out to a late trail run
- Every single member, prospective, and vendor affiliated with AO dedicated time to turn a wrench on our VP's rig
- Family oriented...Kellys son, Mel and Ginas girls, Geoff and Julies kiddos...the way it outta be
- Good friends...Suzuki Mike came up from CA just to ride along with us and announce that he will be back in early 2008. Woo Hoo! Snowman Pat camew back safe and sound from Bagram just to outwheel me. I am glad to have ya back in the fold snowman!
- AO rocked the trail, nary taking an easy bypass. In fact, Pat and kelly searched out the most difficult parts of the trail to play on.
- Sticking together...a NASCAR speed style tire change on Justins rig helped along by every driver in the vicinity. You guys made me proud.
- No whining. Period. No one whined because their rig was underbuilt or something might get hurt. We went out to wheel. We wheeled.

12 Jun 06, 11:35 pm
let me leave you with a few tidbits for now...
Mel said..." I love the sausage...especially the small ones"
Gina's new trail name is Rev Limiter
Locker installs that start at 10 pm arent going to turn out fast and easy.
10 minutes to Wayne is 1 hour to everyone else
" Who the F*** is Nate Berger>?"
Kelly's new avatar should be a dartboard and darts
"WTF is Holeski Offroad?"
A rock was sighted on the trail following Geoff's ZJ like a little lost puppy. Then it bit Justins tire.
The Toy o Let has been redubbed the Skytzo
Fix-It broke it
I almost rolled...again. Whats new there? LoL!
If you weren't on this trail ride, you missed a helluva time. We proved A/O's work hard play hard motto.

An Incredible weekend!
Snowman said, "I love the smell of brake-clean in the morning"
Nate said, "This club has never been better than it is right now."
And the only time I can think that it was close was when I first joined with the original crew that started the club.
I cannot express my gratitude for all the many hours put into helping me with the wrenching on the schitzo. Justin had about 60 hours in last week BEFORE we traveled.
Can't remember who said what but the following was heard
"This is like monster garage."
"Yeah, but we don't get tools!"
Wayne and April - you guys are awesome and are missed. Thanks again for all the hospitality.
Julie - You get the pit-crew member of the month award! What a team player!
Kelly - you are the guru! Every thing that needed to be 100% correct I assigned to you - which took some extra time - but things like brakes and cooling lines were done correctly and worked as they should.
Nate - what a suggestion! I told Nate on Thursday at the Brisket boil that I was going to probably stay home Friday and work on it, then meet the group late Friday night down in Palmer. Nate says, "Don't do that, put it on the trailer and take it to Wayne's. He offered his shop for us to use. Then we can all be down there working on it." It wouldn't have gotten done in time any other way.
Then, huhhuhhuhh... I forgot to tell Wayne that's what we were doing. SO I called him when we were 20 minutes away saying - we're coming to invade. Graciously, he said bring it on! And April started trying to figure out how to feed us all! What incredible people!
We wrenched, we traveled, we wrenched, we ramped, we wrenched, we cooked, we wrenched some more, we hung out and had fun, we wreched through the night, we wheeled - and then I passed out. Don't remember hitting the floor - literally.
What an incredible weekend.
I got up this morning and asked Kael if he saw my triuck - he says:
"Shouldn't you say OUR truck? Because most of the club helped work on it."
A very insightful young man.

IS Dan the official AO Meet N Greet Tour guide?
An awesome job of trail bossing again this year! Thanks.
As you all heard already, it was an awsome weekend. We all helped each other when needed and worked like a family. everyone deserves a pat on the back for a job well done. Kev any time and I know you would do the same thing for any one of us. I haven't laughed that hard in years. I'm really going to miss you all when I move to Elmo. But if voted in the club I will wear that AO sticker with pride. For what I saw this weekend everone treats each other like there brother or sister in this club and can't wait to be assotiated with you all. all yeah forgot to mention again thanks to the Fix-it, Broke-it Family:lol: for your hospitallity and can't wait to wheel with you again. : Meet & Great 06 will be a time to remember
one more thing thanks Dart for cleaning my radiator out when I overheated.
see when we left last night we were just out of Huston when my check engin light came one and I over heated. we popped the hood and saw that I had way tomuch mud over my radiator and that I had a tranny leak. we turned around and haeded for the nearest gastation to clean it out. Kelly cleaned it and I had no more problems except when I got home I have a rock in my caliper again.

I agree Kevin. AO pulled together in a way that no one who has watched this site in the last few months could ever imagine. I mean everyone wrenching until they were exhausted, sleeping on the floor of Waynes house and doing it all again the next day proved to those of us what this club really stands for. The wheeling was great, tons of fun and I got to meet Wayne and family. He truly is AO! How about getting done with the trail ride, tired and sore to find a box of food, drinks, fruit and chips! Thanks Mr and Mrs Sevenslats!
Dan proved out to be a good sport, not complaining about the toy-o-let slowing us down and the numerous stops we were making. I'm glad AO ran together, but I'm looking forward to doing some rides with the other groups.
How about the sayings:
"it's only about 10 minutes away"
"I like to be on top of the nut"
"Pump 3 times and hold" -I don't know how many times I said that.
I'll post up the pictures soon. I've already downloaded the camera, now to put them into my computer.

This past trip was truly a great weekend, but I did see a few things that could have ended up with a medivac and a bad time for a few people. Most went fine ‘till the decent of the rocks. I saw a few times folks putting their hands & arms out the driver window on off-camber spots, as if to stop the pitch of the body. Along the same lines a few spectators and/or spotters standing too close to the down side of a rig with outstretched arms trying to hold a rig in place and from rolling over. I have a news flash for you; your wet noodles are no match for a 3,000-pound truck when it starts to go. If you need to use you body weight as ballast do it on the up side with a spotter rope as Nate and I did. Never ever put yourself in the path of a possible roll over. You are not the Hulk. Next, no one that I saw, besides Wayne and myself, had winch weights. These need to be used ever time the line is pulled. End of story. Spotting! Do not yell; "go left, go right." You do that to me and I’ll get out and kick you in the nads. If you where not chosen to spot by the driver keep your trap shut unless asked. On the other hand if you do get picked to spot, please remember you can not spot every rig down the same line. IFS, Driver diff, pass diff; tire size and wheelbase will all need to take different lines down the same path. Take your time, use a spotter rope if needed and try to avoid the Holeski "go, go tie rod" hand move. Drivers, it is your responsibility to pick your spotter. When parking on a hill steep or not turn your wheels as far left or right as possible so if it slips it does not come barreling down on the rest of us. Please note I am not trying to pick or single anyone out. I am just trying to make it safer to be on the trail for everyone. You not getting hurt means less work for me and I’m lazy, so stay safe.
Thanks,
Holeski AKA Eric

You know what I’m saying though. How many times have you been in a spot and 3 or more people have told you to do something different at the same time. It’s just rude. It’s like saying " you suck and can’t drive so get out and let me do it." Heck I get mad at the kids when they tell each other what to do when they play video games. If some one is having a hard time ask them if they would like some help. I like to pick my own lines and most of the time I look for the hardest ones that will keep most of my tires on the ground. There where a few times I offered some help while some one else was spotting, but one stopped a roll over. If I was out of line I apologize.
Did any one get photos of Nate going up the second set of rocks?

If you click on the image it will pop up in the fullsize version and then you can save it.
