View Full Version : Oil Pressure Gauge
Ok hears the deal. Driving down the road the other day it went from normal reading all the way to the right. Started working again. Well today it is pegged all the way to the right. stays that way with key on or off, with engine running or not. What could be wrong with it. Just totally shot. Can you replace or fix these. It is the oe one. If it can't be fixed I'll look into getting a new one and other gauges and a pod to mount them in.

sounds like a short to me...see if you have current going to the gauge even with the ignition off.

I would bet the oil pressure sending unit is shot. Very common on Jeeps.

I'm with mark on this one!

Turn ignition switch to Run position, then disconnect oil pressure sender (http://www.motoralldata.com/alldata/MOTOR~V42887238~C27787~R0~OD~N/0/34870081/56418366/56418369/56418372/34853741/100411974/34853743/101367086) connector terminal S. Indicator needle should move to H side of gauge.
Touch oil pressure sender (http://www.motoralldata.com/alldata/MOTOR~V42887238~C27787~R0~OD~N/0/34870081/56418366/56418369/56418372/34853741/100411974/34853743/101367086) connector terminal S to ground. If indicator needle moves to L side of gauge, replace sender. If not, repair open circuit to gauge.
So, I guess I have to pull the dash for this. And just where is the oil sender in relation to the gauge. I hate electronics. I can do and like doing a lot of things but absolutley hate anything to do with wiring.

Oil sending unit is just above the oil filter. It's a 2" tube with a connector. Can't miss it.
Don't have to pull the dash for it either.
Did you ever solve this problem?
Actually no. I haven't had time to even put washer fluid in it. It started working again yesterday. I'll check it out this weekend after the run sometime.
