Well Gab's blazer is still leaking oil. It still seems to be coming from one of the breathers like it did before. We had capped on breather off but had to leave one for pressure relief. I just don't know what to do about it. I was told that maybe the guy hwo built the motor put a high volume oil pump on it and it is putting too much oil up top.It really only does it when it gets off camber. But I did notice it leak slightly when just driving on the road.

Any suggestions?????????

Thanks in advance.

I say do like the offroad carbs, and run a line from each valve cover with a small filter in the center. that would give it a higher overflow and hopefully keep it all in. Or maybe pop the valve covers off and see if the baffles are in there...

So you are saying run lines that are connected to each other??? Do they need to go anywhere or just between the covers?
I'll pull them off sometime and look. If the baffles aren't there can he buy some or would it be better to buy new valve covers? Also he has those fancy lookin' "t" shaped hand screws holding is covers on. They keep loosening up, what would someone reccomend to fix that? I have to get his coolant leak on his exploder fixed first before he comes back.

Thanks for the help.

I was just thinking together, but they could go anywere. After I posted the other day, I got to thinking about it though. All's it would take is some oil getting into the lines and they would just blow the oil out from there... Definitely check the baffles though. If they don't have baffles, you could get the push in baffle filter thingies. I think I may have one around here even...

Probably has absolutely nothing to do with your problem... I'm definitely no mechanic, but had a buddy try to run synthetic oil in an older vehicle and got leaks all over the place. Switched back to standard oil or high mileage oil and all the leaks stopped. Since yours is just leaking in the one location as I said, probably has absolutely nothing to do with it just wanted to throw it out there just in case it was recently switched to synthetic.

I'm with Mousee - check the baffles. I've had many an oil leak, but none form the valve cover vent! IF you need, I have a few sets of valve covers with baffles. You could switch them out to see if that's the problem. Also - lock-tight on the T handle threads should help them to stop loosening.

Sounds like blow-by.
This is caused by compression leaking past the rings.
It'll do this on an older engine or on a new rebuild that the rings haen't seated on. Or one that the rings were put in incorrectly.
If blow-by is the case, running hoses wont help - the crankcase is trying to bleed off excess pressure and it's gotta get out. If you fight it, it will blow out a seal somewhere.

Also check your PCV valve. They get condensation inside when it's cold and will cause this. Or it could be plugged with carbon. Take it out, look at it, shake it. It should rattle. With engine idling, there should be vacuum at the end that is inside the valve cover.
