No idea what the model is, and it just dun work. It locks and unlocks the power door locks(when I had the wires hooked up, that is...I'll fix that someday), but it won't start the Jeep. Sometimes the keyfob won't arm or disarm the system, and it's very annoying when it won't DISARM it because i have to pull the horn fuse and drive around with my flashers going off. Maybe I can bring it by someday when I'm not chronically lazy and we can take a look at it? I found the brain...it's in the driver's side footwell(and very well may have been partly toasted by a water crossing prior to my owning it).

Your TJ has power locks? Never seen that before.

Joe, snap a pic of the remote, we can all take guesses.

I'm betting a bulldog unit. Cheap and improperly installed. I can give you a hand looking at it when you swing up to my place. Knowing what the unit is, would allow getting a wiring diagram, which will cut diagnostic times down significantly. If the vehicle doesn't even try to start or turn on the lights, it's usually a power supply/ground problem, switch problem or control unit is bad.

a lot of times the key fob on my Viper won't disarm either. I have to use the key in the driver's door outside lock to disarm.

It's an astrostart unit, the keyfob doesn't look like the one in Ron's thread so I guess it's a rather old unit.
The lights do flash when I hit the buttons, but nothing happens. Once I find my USB cable I'll upload a pic of the keyfob.
Ah, it's this one: http://www.autotechs.com/items/item921.htm

I'd remove it completely and start over.
I've had a couple vehicles with aftermarket alarm systems that were put in by the previous owner. All of them had problems. I usually pull it out, and find a schematic and reinstall (worked with a Viper on my YJ). Or pull it out, throw it away (code alarm on my Dakota) and buy a new system.
I had a bulldog that I put in the Dakota after ripping out the code alarm, and it was a pretty good system. Worked great for the price I paid. The Viper wasn't bad, but the remotes range sucked.
