this weekend i finally totally broken down the 7.5 front end on my taco to find out why its acting so terrible and killing power steering pumps and axle shafts like they were a snack ...

last time i did this i only took it down as far as the diff carrier never took the lock right out or dropped the ring gear because it all looked good inside .. i have been having these issues since our m&g run on boulder, after i broke a hub and shaft 2 years ago !

well after i dropped the ring gear it still looked ok ..till i took the pins out !!

all 4 pins were snapped in 2 and the springs had another inside it ,leaving it spooled together never releasing ?
on the last lock right i took apart only had one spring per pin ..

my question is would this make it too stiff and cause this pin failure ?

by the way this was the only failure no scaring or blueing .. even after being driven on for so long ...
all i need 4 new pins and its good to go again ..

The lok rites should have two springs per pin. One big one and one smaller one that fits inside it. Repair kits are available for about $10 but shipping sucks.

Yep - 2 springs. Shouldn't make it too stiff - pin failure was for some other reason.

what would cause the pin failure then ?

too much torque!

I'd figure if the puns were broke, it would never lock up???

i guess it had a good long hard life with the boggers and all .. but april is much happier driving the truck now .thats all that matters now .. kinda sad though she is almost all stock again no boggers , or mtr's back to 31's at's and only a rear locker ...
