I didn't get a whole lot done today. I'll be hitting it by 9am tomorrow. It's only going to take a couple hours to finish. If anyone has a couple feet of 2" by 1/4" or 3/8" flat bar handy, that would be helpful I ran out. This has to be out of the garage tomorrow so I can get my truck ready.
Ole give if you don't hear from me by 10am give me a call 385-3043. I know I have some flat strap laying around here. I'll look in the am.

Groomer is done with the exception of needing three 1/2" fine thread steel locking nuts. We are going to do a trial run at Repp Rd. on Monday.
If I can get the XJ fixed tomorrow and don't have to be at any appointments I'll try to attend the test run, but it's doubtfull.

Can you explain the process for those geographically challenged?
What needs to be done to convert from wheels to groomer?
What parts did you have to remove/install/modify during the build?

We built a sled for it to ride in. The wheels will ride on top of the "sled" which has a metal frame with expanded metal on the bottom - and angle in the front will help leve things out - the expanded metal will cheese-grate the loose stuff - then the last foot is angled plywood that will pack it down - that is also where the wheels set - so the weight of the trailer will mostly ride on the "packer."
Hopefully pics will be posted soon - I didn't have my camera...

Hmmm. And this sled fits inside the trailer for hauling?

Logic would say.... :troutslap: no.
however, it will ride nicely on top.

It left a really nice pretty trail. We'll need to add about 2' of sheet metal or that plastic sheeting stuff like dogsled runners. The mesh worked exactly as planned but with the curved up front edge it acted like a big snow collecter instead of a sled and got really heavy. I could pull it on flat ground with chains just on the rear but needed all 4 chained to get past inclines. Pics later tonight.

P-tex(sp?) is mostly installed. I could use a second set of hands for about ten minutes and it will be finished.

Here's the plowing issue the p-tex should solve.

Thanks. I take back all the dirty comments abot you guys I made under my breath.
Looks real nice. Got any close-ups or an explanation of where it mounts to the tongue?
Where does the snow come onboard? In those last 2 pics, it looks like it could be on the sides.

The front of the cheese grater, where it starts the upward angle was plowing into the snow and it was coming through the expanded metal. Thus a strip of lexan was attached at the bottem of that curve to prevent the plowing/catching effect.

Ole built that revolver-like shackle which attaches it to the tongue and lets the whole deal rock front to back. It attaches with 1/2" bolts and/or hitch pins. The tires sit in little cradles and the axle gets ratchet strapped to tie-down loops on the sled.
