Well it was a great day even though the end turned into a winch fest it was still a great day. Attendance was: 99TJ, ChevyKev, Stumblinman, TJVigilante, Flawed, SammiMike, ZUKMAN1993, Bulldog, 78Calico(first half), 74Blazer.
The day started at my House at 0830 on the dot. We hung out waiting for a few guys to show up then Kevin took off to go download Skitzo at the Ski lodge and the rest of us followed. It looked like we were going to actually be on schedule to the timeline we came up with. Then Kevin called Ole on his cell phone, which caused Ole to get pulled over because he was driving on post and talking. Which gave the Game Wardens and the MP's something to do so they kept messing with us checking our ORV passes to be out on post. But once they had their fill with pestering us we finally make it to powerline hill.
I missed the beginning of powerline as I was at the front gate getting an updated ORV pass. But when I showed up SammiMike was going up the hill. He made pretty short work of it. Little Hickup at the top of the hill but worked through it no problem. Same with ChevyKev. He went right up the Hill no problems. Then Ole in Mini Me gave it a go. After two attempts he called it. I think it was because he didn't have the nuts hanging in the back of his truck:rolleyes:. Next up was Stumblinman. He attempted it three times to no avail. On the third try he got sideways and close to rollover on his way back down the Trail. But with a quick tug from C.A. and 5 of us pulling on a strap on the uphill side of his Jeep to keep him from rolling over he was off the trail safely. Next was Me, and ChevyKev due to the fact he didn't want to walk back up the hill to Skitzo. We went up in the Jeep only to have my carb flood me out at the top. Restarted me real quick and finished no problem. Then Carl decided to try the Blazer on the hill. He made it higher than before on a previous FWW run but still could not crest the Hill. Keep trying Carl I have faith you can make it. After Carl backed down the hill Stumblinman, C.A., Ole, and Carl drove around the hill to meet us a Sage Hill. We toyed around on Sage hill for a little bit but Kevin had Mud on the brain so we went to the Stumblinman recovery trail. At this point Ole had to leave so he went home we went to the "Trail".
I led us down to the 150 Yard mud hole and pulled off to the side because I wanted someone with a winch in front of me. So 99TJ went in. Made it about 10ft then stopped. So Kevin went around on a side Trail got in front of Matt and pulled him out. They went down and turned around because we decided that we didn't want this to be a long day of Winching. Well TJVigilante trys to go in the hole and gets hung up on his crossmember so we pop him back with little resistance. Now we find out that C.A. is stuck on the trail behind us where he stopped while us in the front were getting Matt out. So Flawed(don't want to mispell your name) goes to get him out. C.A. out and turned around the rest of us start getting turned around. During this SammiMike gets stuck and winches himself out and anchors himself to be a winch point on the Trail. While he was getting out and set Flawed had sank into the mud and was now stuck. So he winches to SammiMike and gets out. Lindsey(Flaweds friend) was such a champ during all of this portion of the ride being the camera girl on the back of Mikes' Sammi. Meanwhile we are helping Carl figure out his fuel problem and get him running again. Zukman takes off up the trail. Needs two tugs by me back to allow him to hit a better line on the trail and goes out. With a bit of 3 wheel crab walk action he gets all the way back out with no winch assisting. He only needed my two tugs back wards then the rest was all him and the ZUKI. The only one in the group that does not need any assistance. Then I go up the trail and after giving it H!@# I need a little assistance from SammiMike. Once he got me through it was smooth sailing from there for me. 3 out 5 to go. Next we here Skitzo coming with C.A. in tow. I tell you that looked impressive. Kevin got C.A. Pretty close but then his transmission started acting up and he was losing power. So with alot of winching and pulling SamminMike and Skitzo get C.A. out. Now Kevin tries to back down the Trail to get Stumblinman but with no support from Skitzo's transmission so he gets stuck. While we are pulling Kevin out here comes Carl with Stumblinman in tow. With a near miss between Carl's Blazer and Skitzo they stop. At this point I run to the Store for some Snickers bars and Gatorades for everyone on the trail. By the time I get back everyone is pretty much out and I have to get turned around to finally leave this trail after 6 hours on the trail. Minus a couple needed tugs we all get out with the only trail carnage being Matt's (99TJ) Winch cable getting frayed from the winch cross supports and Kevins Transmission. Great day otherwise. And Skitzo was still able to drive out on his own power.
Guys good time other than being late to my BBQ and my other guests at the BBQ (which was Hillbilly Dodge and a Buddy from the unit) all was well and it was a very fun day. Kevin don't beat yourself up about wanting us to go down the trail. It is possible to tell you no. I wanted to go to knowing what it could have and did turn into. But I think everyone had fun nontheless.
This was probably my last run till after Iraq so thanks guys for making it a good one.
