Does this have anything to do with AC? I didn't look overly closely at it, but I can't find another picture of a Jeep engine with this thing in it.

If that has something to do with AC, I'm just going to take all that stuff out and use that space for other things.

Making a random guess, it looks like the HVAC air filter.

While related to the A/C, you probably don't want to remove it.

I think it is like the charcoal canister....

It is the evaporative canister. The rest of the EVAP stuff, (leak detection pump, purge valve and such should just be inboard of that. Remove and you should get a MIL illuminated.

Ok this stupid error message really has my number.

Yeah, akjeep pointed that out to me tonight. Looks like I'll be removing the AC to make room over the engine between the support bars for my 2.5 gallon air tank.

Save yourself some effort and put your air tank underneath. Look under your TJ, below where the back passenger's feet would be and you will see lots of room. That way you don't have to pull a bunch of stuff out from under hood.

did you ever consider using a Co2 tank for air pressure instead of a big air tank? Thats what a buddy of mine did back in ohio, it worked out pretty well. if I remember right he had it mounted behind the passengers seat kind of like you would a fire ext.

This setup allows me to run air tools, not just air up tires, and I don't need to take it to get it recharged down the line. I'll have mousee weld me up a bumper that can double as an air tank as well for my big storage.

I'm with Rob. Mount a tank across from the muffler. run some permanent hoses to the front and rear corners.
