When I get my tube fender on it I plan on linking the stinger to the front of the fender. Give it some strength and so it doesnt look like it is just hanging out the in the middle of no where.
I plan on welding it to the Stinger but I will bolt it to the fender.

From the picture, it looks like a D60 out of a 70s-80s F250, but it's hard to tell for sure. Check the webbing next to the diff cover like I told you on the phone. If it's a 60 it will have 30 or 16 coarse splines unless you got really lucky and scored a 60 HD with 35 splines. If you pull a shaft and it has the coarse 16 spline shafts call me and I'll tell you your options.

Someone mis-informed you. They ONLY make thick ring gears for high pinion D60. Not low pinion.
They might have heard 14 Bolt and been thinking you had a Chevy low pinion axle. Better check to be sure the are sending you reverse cut gears for a Ford High Pinion.
YG-D60R-513R-T Reverse rotation gearset with thick ring gear for use with 4.10 and down carrier. Listed on their website. Better call them back before it ships.

I forgot how heavy these suckers are . It wasnt easy getting it into the garage by myself. I started to tear it down, I didnt get far when my impact couldnt handle it. So I went for my breaker bar... I discovered that my buddy never returned it from when he borrewed it (while i was in florida tdy). It is even better when i asked him last friday if he had anymore of my tools, because I havnt had the time to go through my box since I got home. He said he didnt and I said have a good drive and now he is in Utah with my new breaker bar... and then to find out he never returned my motorcycle tire that I asked him for over the phone and now he wont answer my calls or texts...

You have got to love when you get parts in the mail. I didnt even order the brake kit. My lovely wife ordered it and I have been after her lately to order it for me, she kept of saying tomorrow... Now I know why she kept on putting it off
I have everything I need for install on my 14 bolt. I am still waiting to check the prices on a front spool, My original plan was a ARB. I decided spending 8-900 dollars on a locker is a bit much when they dont like to activate in the cold. The disk brake kit seems to be a pretty decent deal. I am going to draw up the brackets so i can cut a couple of sets to help out a few people who have 14 bolts and would like disk brakes.

Well if anyone out there is wondering how hard of metal your drive rings are I can say they are very very tough to machine. I am working at shaving down the ring gear about .5". I didnt get it finished today, I will have to set up the tool post grinder because our carbide insert cutters dont play well with an intermittent cut.
I will also cut the housing down about 3 inchs at a 20 degree angle (ish). :D

The Wave is ok... it is just where there is low spots in the ring. As i kept grinding you can see as the material
got closer to one diameter the wave went away and it smoothed out with a nice finish. I was care full to not get the
ring to hot. I dont want to anneal it in anyway.

I was reading on pirate4x4 how everyone else has been shaving down there ring gear. The majority of them just used a grinder and turned them by hand. I figured I could go 1 step farther by turning it in the lathe at about 600rpm and use our 7.5" grinder. It worked really well, it still took a good bit on time. But with turning it in the lathe it really helped keep it running true. I took just under 1" off the the outer diameter... It should be enough for when i get to cutting on the axel tonight
Ole I will do you D70 ring for help with installing and getting my 60 ready for install. How much do you plan on removing?

All it took was a Sawzall and about 6 of my dewalt batteries. It also took only 1 blade to accomplish the shave. I will also mount this up in my mill to square it off and shave it down a bit more. Right now I have about .25 of clearance that I dont need. I will take it down to about 1/16 of an inch in clearance. Stay tunned i am going to start working on a beefy dif cover.

I started working on a new fuel tank for the jeep tonight. I picked up a 314 SS tank out of the trash at work. When it started it was 19 gallons, I cut it down to take 14 gallons of fuel. This is what I am working with right now...
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_1255.jpg
The plate that will be welded to the tank is some .125 SS
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_1257.jpg
I went with 2 bolt holes per corner. A bit over kill but better safe than sorry.
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_1259.jpg
There will be some baffles welded to the base of the tank with 3/8 holes punched in them to keep the fuel from sloshing around. I havnt figured out exaclty yet the design becuase I want to make sure it can get fuel at every angle.
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_1256.jpg
The top with get a Jegs fuel cell cap along with a vent tube. The fuel lines will get 6an fitting welded in place. The tank will get pressure tested before it will be put into use.

I bobbed my front fender to give it more of a comp look. I dont plan on running much lift, the lower I can keep the center of gravity the better. I would like to move the front axel forward when I do my axel swap. If I end up having to shave my hood back to increase the up travel thats what I will do. However with running full width axels I shouldn't run into that.
I am going to come up with some removable fender flairs in order to keep the NP cops off of my back.

Well I could wait until tomorrow to try this out.
This is what I was thinking about doing
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3808.jpg
What I am starting with:
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3810.jpg
finished products, kind of... I cut this all with a .25 cutter and I am going to go back through with the .5 cutter to smooth out the ridges.
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3809.jpg
This didn't take that much time, I started out with a very cold tire and an old tire. I am assuming that a newer tire that isn't as dried out would cut easier. :D

Brecking up those blocks will make a big differance in how the ZO's perform. You mite like them!

either way they are to small, I plan on buying some 42/44" IROK after I get my rig built. It will be the last purchase I make. . well here's a list of to do/ to buy
- plumb orbitol/make oil resevoir
-Pull 351W/replace head gasket
-C6 converted to Reverse manual valvebody
-205 transfercase (purchesed from Ole)
-rebuild axels/ plans on doing them tomorrow night
-weld new fuel cell for FI motor/ old one will probably go to Ole's mud drag truck
-improve cage supports and mounts for 5point harnesses
-front brake lines
-convert A/C pump to Air compressor onboard tank
-NOS
-Wire in new dash assembly (using F350 display)
-Order/repair H1 inserts and repair damaged areas
-Comp cut rear
-Boat cut sides
Well it actually doesnt look bad for a list. I should have to make anymore major purchases. But I am sure I am forgetting something

Thanks, but it wasn't on
I was over at Ole's tonight trying to get my gear setup... It wasnt to be... the ring was used and abused, it def had gotten very hot and wont hold up... As Ole was polishing up his bearing puller I was welding up the spider gears.
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3825.jpg
prepped and ready for welding. We sprayed some anti splatter on the flange where the gear bolts up.
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3826.jpg
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3828.jpg
All welded up
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3829.jpg
I am going to cut off the steering flange, it really is absolutely necessary, I am going for the CTM (?) Knuckles. I can't afford them, but why can't I make a set of my own! I will show process when I start next week. When I add my high steering arms it should pretty sweet!

Ole and I managed to get my R&P set up today. It was a complete pain in the arse, the fella who set it up originally set it up didn't do it correctly. We had to start from the beginning, alot of trial and error.
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3837.jpg
it took a lot of time but we got the pattern that we were looking for.
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3838.jpg
almost re assembled and ready to go. http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3839.jpg
I managed to scrounge together a set of WARN hubs, for a nice upgrade. I was going to keep them for the jeep but I am going to upgrade the outers to 35 spline.

This is all for my DD/pull truck/wheeler while the jeep is down.

Here is the truck! It isn't much to look at yet, but I have alot of parts.
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3844.jpg
I am changing out the 16.5x7 steel wheels for the 16.5x10 alloys. http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3845.jpg
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3846.jpg
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3856.jpg
The techs had some problems getting the tires to seat, going from a 7 to a 10" wide rim. But after we strapped it and used an extra tank for increased pressure we finally got them done.
After looking at the huge front bumper that weighed a ton, I decided to cut it down to a simpler and something with some clevis points. start to finish...

http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3855.jpg
Finished product. I will probably do something for extensive later on when I have more time. This is simple and doesnt dominate the front end of the truck

Well I didn't make it out for jake's run, but I did get some work done around my house. I managed to get my motor and tranny pulled.
The motor is a 351W out of a 1990 F350. You can see the A/C compressor that I will convert over for my onboard air. Also I will fully de-smog the entire motor. I have a set of headers that I will install as well.
http://i389.photobucket.com/albums/oo339/joshosvold/IMG_3862.jpg
The tranny is a C6 that I will reverse the gear pattern and install a manual valve body. It will keep the tranny from shifting when you don't want it to.

I have a writeup on here too, not sure how detailed it is.
Found it. It could do with some more detail but it was my first major project.
http://www.arcticoffroad.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4922
One of these days I'll tear it down and plumb it properly, and I'll put more detail into it.
the Sanden he's using should work out the same externally, but require a pre-oiler to keep the compressor going, as it doesn't have a crankcase like my York does.

The york will still pump out oil into the system, That is the way they lube the valves and to help heat transfer. You should run and inline oiler on the york too.

Once I mounted the tires on a 10" wheel the profile of the tire is great and after todays drive to work and around town, this tire pattern works and significantly improved the traction of the tire. I still plan on purchasing a tire siper, to finish off this set of tires. I will get to work grooving my 38s once I get the inserts for the 2 piece rims.

Tonight I installed this Rancho steering stabalizer, I should greatly improve the road manners of this old truck.

It can't hurt!!! The R/T is a pretty crappy snow tire. Josh cut a good pattern on them and sipeing the center blocks and inside of the outer blocks would make them better!

Here is an update.
The project has taken a bit of a back burner to some of my other projects. I can take the jeep apart yet because I still depend on it occationaly. It doesnt mean that I haven't stopped. I recently received a few boxes of goodies.
Here is the orbital that I purchased months ago and it finally got here.
