I don't have sound on the pc right now. Is he saying to weld that strap on over the spider? Why do this over just nuking the spider together? So you can undo? Why would anyone undo it? By what I can get from the video, it looks like a quick and easy way to lock 'er up. I would just weld it though. I would be more satisfied and more comfortable welding it up than adding another possible variable...

Very good points indeed, that was my first thought as well...why not weld it up and be done. Basically he says to run a screw on top and bottom through the strap to the carrier then weld the strap to the extra spider gear. I guess so it could be removed later, either that or this could be used by a person who is not very comfortable with there welding skills.

Neat Idea, If I get it right, you would screw the band over the open carrier and let the gear free-float to allow SOME play between the axles. Neat Idea, but the forces exerted inside the diff push the gears outward, so If you had a heavy foot, I could see the whole thing disentigrating.
