Or getting yanked out the hole the first time :)

BUT, michael definitely wheeled a lot differently than I thought he would... He did a heckuva job out there. I figured he'd turn around when he saw the tight branches and what not..

Good job Michael.

well, the trail report is short but eventful. We could not get past the Wainwright gate, so we headed up Beaver Creek road for a while. We made it about 2 miles in but some deep rutted sections got the best of our IFS friend on his maiden voyage. I give due credit to Michael for a valient effort, even when his dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree.

After the Beaver Creek road, we headed out to Husky and explored some ATV trails to see if something could be made of them. That is where we came upon what is now known as the Monty hole. Michael dove in head first and the Monty hiked a leg. The NXC bumper/skid plate/stinger did well and protected the Monty from what was sure ot be some front end damage and a crushed radiator. So, we used a strap and pulled him out just enough for him to make another attempt. This time around Michael got to use his new winch and made light work of winching himself out. I could not lend a hand as the ol cast foot was freezing quite a bit.

So the next little jaunt found a decent rut and hill for me to play in which is where the T is shown getting a little ari. I think I was a little higher than that but the picture didnt capture it.

And lastly we headed down an old ATV trail that brought forth some tight wheeling and a little carnage for Michael's "Full Monty". Only a fender flare, some custom pinstriping, and a dent i the tailgate.

So all in all, things went well, Michael got to break in the Monty in style, and I got to do some more cast foot wheeling..

So everyone stop webwheeling and get out there!!!

I thought this was 4 wheelers only? Nice bumper. I like the inset lights. Nice Stinger. I will get mine one of these days.

This trip was a blast. I was a little disapointed when we had to turn around and not complete the scouting trip, but we had a blast out at Husky!!:) Micheal impressed me as well. He did a great job and definitly suprised me. Good job man. The Monty is on it's way!!! Oh, and I got a little bit of trail damage to my face thanks to Nate!! :):)

Well, thanks for all the kind words. I had fun. The Mighty little Monty is a little pissed at me right now. I cleared the computer, but I can't get the ABS light to turn off. I hope I didn't fry anything. All these electronics in her make for an interesting time. :o As for the fender flare, I'll patch it up somehow. It's not really bad, but it'll bug me till I do something about it.

Everywhere we went today was fun, I think I could have made it up that hill if I had worked a little harder at it.

On another note. With all the snow that melted off her, my basement wall sprung a leak. Housing just left, apparrently the wall has erroded away. Lovely.

Mine did that all the time. After a couple hours it went away. Now it is on 24/7 and I do not even have ABS anymore lol.

Your's is on because you never told the computer that you removed the ABS system from the truck. So, the computer is looking for it and it doesn't exist. Pull the bulb out of your dash and that'll fix it.

I am proud of the progress I watched michael make today. He was cautious, under zealous with the gas pedal, and then started getting more brave. Also, forgot to mention that after gettign strapped out of the monty hole, he went back in on a different approach, then displayed the proper techniques to doing his own winch recovery.

Thanks. I try. I do need to get my own tow strap though. That hole looked smaller than it actually was. NBM didn't have any problem though. But his rig is a bit wider than mine and a little higher.

you probably got some dirt stuck in your ABS sensor, no big deal. Just get it cleaned out. YOu don't need ABS anyway...lol

Looks like a good time, thanks for the pictures. I have a couple trails out that way off Transmitter I've explored in the summer before, they got a little tight for the two fullsizes we had out there so we turned and burned...might have to go check them out again and do a little pruning.

You wouldn't have fit a full size in some of the places we went today. I was to wide for a lot of it.

Hey Michael the winch looks good! Glad to see you could use it on your first time out with it too.

Awesome. Just awesome. I am so jealous. Michael, did you scrape the belly at all this trip? Get with NBM-fab to make a 1/4" skid, and you won't care anymore.

michaeljr5
21 Feb 06, 07:28 am
I only scraped on the snow and the dirty, snow, rock ice boulder thingy I tried to climb. I'll have to take a closer look. I already have a ton of skid equipment under her, but I'll have to see if I need anymore or replacements.

I just know you mentioned it on the Manchu thread. And my ZJ scrapes the T-case every breakover I try. I need a huge skid.

I can fab

michaeljr5
21 Feb 06, 07:33 am
Yah, I may need to get one, or a thicker one. I have to crawl under there and get a closer look. With all the snow on her yesterday I couldn't, not to mention I flooded the garage. On a good point, my dash isn't all lit up any more. :D

I am going to have to fix the fender flare. I was thinking on using some of that spray foam stuff you use for pipes in a house. I'd spray it in the fender flare and sand it down and tape over it. Think it'll work?

wow nice work guys. another good way to fix pesky dash lights is black electrical tape just a little strip of that stuff cover most any unwanted lights

Repaired the Fender flare. It's not as pretty as it use to be, but with a little Duct tape and some nate inspired ingenuity, she'll hold till I break it again.
