Installed new power steering hoses today. tomorrow I will be repacking front wheelbearings and replacing seals. Got to keep on top of these old rigs.

91 Burb is running. Runs real good too.

The bad,
1. Speedo is inop, which is causing the trans to not shift into overdrive. I hit a bump and the speedo worked for a moment and quit again. It could be the speed sensor, so I will do a little research and we'll see.
2. Glow plugs will not engage like they should. I hotwired them to get them warmed up, I would like them to be automatic, but if I have to settle for a pushbutton like the red Burb, I can deal with it.

It runs real strong thanks to a great job of reassembly by Kevin and a nice turn up of fuel on the injection pump.

I still need to change the oil/filter, and install the hood before I go bombing around in it too much.

I heard it run - about the same time my alarm clock was going off!

Kris tried to wake me up, but her efforts, my alarm clock, nor the engine running sounds were able to pry me from slumber. once I hit the 5 hour mark I started becoming a bit aware of my surroundings again.

Mels 44 gears are done.
Mark's 6.2 is done.
Now I start on another project...

I started today off by changing tie-rod ends before installing the lift and new tires on the 1987 1/2 ton. Figured I'd check everything out while I was at it. Found a leaking axle seal and a bad ball joint. Now I'm changing out all seals, ball joints, and u-joints since I have it apart. Man, it's been a long time since I've done this much wrenching. Using some tools I haven't used in a long time and just bought a bunch more also. I'll have a complete 4x4 shop soon. Man, air tools are a timesaver.

Hope to have everything back together by noon tomorrow and the lift kit installed by the evening. I'll probably have to wait until Thursday to have it aligned before I install the new wheels and tires. This is suppose to be my "street" truck, but I want to take it out Thursday or Friday night.

The 1985 1 ton is driving, but needs new tires. They had to order in the wheels, so it will be next week before they're in. I might install the lift on it this weekend before the wheels and tires show up. This truck is all set to go with a rear lock and front limited slip, can't wait to wheel.

Update your rig status here! - AKMark - 17 May 07

91 Burb = motor back out, looks as though the cam is broken into at least two pieces, will find out for sure when we pull it apart sometime soon.

80 Waggy = T-case has no high range. Going less than 30 sucks. Kev has a NP208 I will attempt to install after I get home from vacation next week.

85 Burb = Hopefully got an engine tonight. I'm sure I need to wire it and get it running, but it might be running under it's own power soon.

03 Pontiac = Oil change, trailering lights hooked up, ready to pull a pop up to Seward and back starting tomorrow. Hopefully this vehicle will escape the plague that has stricken all the rest of the vehicles I've owned as of late.

Update your rig status here! - 93hummer - 20 May 07

The 93 Hummer can finally steer again. The steering fiasco started a month ago when I found both PS pump brackets cracked and broken. Mark and I welded them back up and reinforced them but one reinforcement was slightly too large and thus when the belts went back on, the bracket would hit the other bracket and not move enough to fully tighten the belts. I drove it with squealing belts for 2-3 more weeks, they only squealed around sharp turns. Then last week one of the high pressure lines from the pump to the hydroboost backed off a little, leaking PS fluid everywhere, there are still a couple of trails leaving my driveway... So yesterday after 3 trips to NAPA, I finally got some belts that are not too long and not too short and tightened the loose hose fitting.

So I can finally steer once again, it is wonderful to turn corners and not hear squealing belts or a pump making noise cause it low on fliud... there were a few times when I used to hear both noises!!! Hopefully I can make it out to the AO swap meet today..... instead of wrenching on my junk all day.

Update your rig status here! - TJVigilante - 20 May 07

PS Fluid leaking from pitman arm
t-case linkage or shift fork still acting wierd
More mud on/in it from pulling someone out at S. Cushman after the swap meet
~500lbs worth of axles and junk in the back, some of it going to the transfer station when I get a chance.

Update your rig status here! - AK20 - 20 May 07

Well I'm wheel-able for now, got a new cross for the cv on the front driveshaft, and also 2 new u-joints for said ds...so that's good to go, still have the leaky axle seal on the front, as time permits I'll get to that.

Big news for me is what I should be picking up tomorrow, 203-205 doubler with triple stick setup. This hasn't been ran yet so it still needs assembled, plans will most likely be to just get it to the house, assemble, then wait until this fall or winter to stab it in there...I just can't pass on the price, but don't really have the extra money for driveshaft mods and new crossmembers that come along with swapping that in.

Still need to get with Kelly so we can diagnose my winch situation...

OK, I started off just planning on changing the steering tie rod ends then installing the lift kit. All of a sudden, I find more problems. Pretty soon this is what I'm left with....
Replacing axle seals, u-joints, ball joints, tie rod ends, drag link, pinion seal, and front driveline u-joint. The front CV joint was still OK, but I'll check it after wheeling it for a bit. Also installing all parts for lift.

Worked on it today, installing the new axle seals was the most difficult task. Shouldn't take long tomorrow morning to get finished up, then take it down for an alignment.

same stats with the dodge
replaced the powersteering pump thursday. now getting ready to replace the powersteering box.

Update your rig status here! - AKMark - 25 May 07

80 Waggy - NP208 and new to me rear driveshaft installed. Works great, need to grease up the U-joints a little more but I have the gun and will get it done today.

91 Burb - Engine still awaiting disassembly

85 Burb - Still has no engine installed

03 Pontiac - Needs brakes in the front bad. Rotors are severely warped. However it pulled a 3000 lb camper to Seward and back in third gear averaging 16-18 mpg. For that I cannot complain.

4 has always been enough on every trail I've been on...

actually the number I need to increase is seating capacity. The wife wants to get back into wheeling with me and the kids...
