PTO winch on a EB?!

TJVigilante

those are some cool looking tracks...assuming 5x5.5 bolt pattern? I know someone who may be interested in borrowing those things someday when you get them up here...:p

You know it. I never have to worry about my battery holding up. The drive shaft is a little bent though so it has a little vibration.
Well here is my newest project,
I just can't seem to let go of the FSJ bug.

I am still waiting for the guy to find the title, I believe it is a 1963,

A Wagoneer with a 232 chevy 6 banger, and 3 on the tree,

Also it has a ramsey 8000 lb PTO winch.

Plans so far are, Four speed w/granny 1st and a beefer transfer case

and a chevy 350 V8,

of course there will be a lift going on there also.

It's hiding behind the birch tree Camo.

This the best pic of the winch I have so far.

So the pass can keep up on battery status. I guess?

Is that cool or what.

I love it dude! Especially the Bat-o-meter. Is that the Batman energy level in the Bat mobile?

Nice tree!
Backed the TJ halfway into my garage last night to put my driveshaft back together. With all the yard sale stuff in there, it was a tight fit. Looking back, I really should have move some of that. I got the control arms shortened back up, and started on the driveshaft. By this time, it was dark, and I couldn't close the door. I was getting cold, PT kicked my *** that morning, and the beer was working. I have more scrapes and cuts than bolts tightened. I'll have to get it finished up tonight for the show Sat.
The Zj is doing fine, 'cept for the overdue oil change. It goes to the shop tomorrow for a pre-travel safety inspection. The in-laws arrive Thurs to drive it to Denver.
Burb, is running, has a trans issue that should be resolved quick though. Someone had it set up to run without locking up, so when I put a selenoid in it, it locks up all the time. And when it's trying to go at idle, I get mad. Runs pretty good though.

74 about to go into build-up status

03 Pontiac - needs brakes and a passenger side mirror.
Finally broke down and bought a new radiator for the K5  hope to have it in tonight with enough time to sleep for 4-5 hours before having to be back at work. Then figure out the mystery with the brakes and get soem drive lines from Youngs (SIGH)
My jeep is down for the moment, i have a bad wheel berring in the left front, I dont want to spend the time and money to replace it because I am going to do a conversion to 5.5 inch wheels so I can have the same bolt pattern ront and rear. I jus tgot to wait till I got the money for the chevy spindles...... should have it ready by the ride on the 24th

TJVigilante

I have spindles...
The 1-ton crew cab body was not as in good of shape as I was hoping. What can I say, I bought it sight unseen and primarily for the 1-ton running gear. The plan was to chop about 4' out of the frame to shorten the wheelbase, then either make a supershort bed or a flatbed. Now I am thinking about getting a blazer and installing the TH400, NP205, Dana 60, and 14BFF.

The wife is getting tired of all the trucks. Now I currently have my '87 V10 daily driver, '85 5/4 ton CUCV work truck which doubles as my current trail rig, '88 1-ton crew cab for parts, '85 K10 drives but leaking head gasket, and a '75 K20.

I was going to put the 3/4 ton running gear from under the '75 K20 on my '87, but decided to keep the stock gear. I bought the '85 K10 for body parts, but it is too nice of shape to part out. I'll probably be selling the '75 and '85 soon, especially if I get my blazer.

Here's a picture of the "fleet" Wink

Nice Pic! Big Grin
Bulldog Wrote:...'85 K10 drives but leaking head gasket...

How's that work?
I had to drive it around the block to find any problems. I had fixed a hose where the coolant was leaking out. There is a slight bubbling in the radiator which I am assuming is from the head gasket. I haven't had the time to do a compression check. I suppose I could drive it until it blew up on the road  I just meant that there were no other major mechanical problems with it.
The new radiator was to tall  I am hunting for a diffrent one but all I can find are thin ones . I guess GM used a 19 and a 17 inch tall radiator in 87-88 Blazers and Subs I know for sure. They make the HD 4 core copper/brass ones and 2 core aluminum ones for the 19 tall but not the 17 tall go figure  I wonder if they have diffrent core supports or how that works?
STOMPR Wrote:I wonder if they have diffrent core supports or how that works?

Only difference I know of would be how the top radiator mount is designed. some went striaght form the Radiator cross support (core support) to the top of the radiator, others had about a 2" drop style bracket. I have changed types in vehicles before, just had to fab up some bracketry.

OBVOUSLY YOUR SHROUD MOUNTING WOULD ALSO BE DIFFERENT.
My Truck is finally back together. Installed new front axleshafts and u-joints and a crossover steering system. The crossover set up was definately not bolt on.
I learned a few things along the way:
The 3" drop pitman arm that everyone sells for crossover steering doesn't work on late 70's 3/4 tons unless you have at the very least a 6" lift. But a stock one from a 77 ford van does.
A crossover set up on this truck requires "tunneling" the front crossmember no matter what the lift.
The front passenger side shock and mounts must be relocated behind the axle.
"Flat" high steer arms are junk.
The size of the small end of properly reamed tapered hole for a 1 ton tie rod end is .650"
1020R and 1020L 1 ton Dodge tie rod ends have the same taper as 1 ton GM tie rod ends and are readily available at Napa.
Dang Ole,

Sorry that was such a PITA. I guess that's where the old FSJ was a good rig, it would've been pretty much bolt on for it.

Glad you got it figured out and working. Guess your ready for Rainbow huh?
ZJ leaves the state this morning.
TJ gets an alignment this afternoon. One of my transmission>mount bolts is loose and razttling around because its jammed inbetween the mount and the crossmember. driving me nuts.

ARCTIC_EXPRESS

I have a new vehical some of you have seen and been gag ordered. It will be on the rainbow run. I your not there you'll have to wait for the pic when we get back.
I am also toying with the idea of selling the zuki.
:rant:My Jeep may eventually get put back together. I thought the t-case, the brand new t-case, was finally fixed up..but no. :thefinger:
Short recap:
o Mid April called to make original appointment.
o Mid May the look at it and order a t-case.
o Early Jun they install new case and front driveshaft.
New case won't shift right. Parts ordered.
o Late Jun - early Jul they replace everything from the shift fork out to the lever on the new t-case(I now call rebuilt).Cry
Drove it for a week or so before it started clunking while accelerating.
o Late Jul - Still doesn't shift right. 4wd engaging on it's own because shift collar on main shaft won't fully pull away from the chain gear. More parts ordered.
o Early Aug replaced main shaft, gears, shift collar, many other parts(I haven't gotten the printout from parts dept yet)
Rebuilt twice now and still doesn't shift right.
o Starline says look at the diffs...mechanic says that's not the problem but we'll do it. :bat:I have to argue hard and show reciepts to not get charged for the "scheduled maintenance".:argue:
:knockout:SURPRIZE!!!!! Both diffs are bad. The hard surface on the rings and pinions wore off. It wore off. WORE OFF! IT WORE THE F#$% OFFFF!!!
The new rear axle and new front carrier assemblies are currently on order. You read right...whole new rear axle. The worst part is that the machanic knows they're not causing the t-case problem. They actually do want to order another new t-case but have to get the axles done first according to Starline. So once that happens they can turn around and get a 2rd new t-case ordered.

JAG lawyer tells me - Lemon laws are out the window because it's more than 12 months old.:banghead: Magnusson/Moss/Massey (whatever) Waranty Act can help me out if I want to push it. :thewhack:Once Gene's has had a "reasonable" amount of time to attempt repairs and fails I can demand refund or replacement.

At this rate the Grizzlybeaver will be my DD before I get the Little Brown Jug back.(That's what I'm calling it from now on.):puke:
BTW, the gear oil was perfect, there was never any water in the diffs, and I thoroughly cleaned the diff housings out for scheduled maint at 12,000 and 24,000 miles with never a hint of metal on the magnetic plugs.
wow.
